Librarians recognize news collections as a valuable and widely used resource for studying issues and events. America’s News provides students and faculty with authoritative, staff-written coverage of local and national topics for classroom assignments and individual research. It supports general education requirements and core competencies required by all degree-seeking students, especially those in communications, health, humanities, education, business, social sciences programs and many others. With unlimited access from all library workstations—and remote access 24/7 for most titles—users can freely search, browse, print, save and email full-text articles. America’s News can be enhanced with the addition of a variety of specialized, cross-searchable news and information resources that address specific areas of interest.
The most comprehensive U.S. news resource
News happens everywhere, from small towns to big cities across the United States. America’s News enables researchers to pinpoint information on people, issues and events in the local area or around the country. Updated daily, this comprehensive resource offers tens of millions of current and archived articles from news sources nationwide in a single, fully searchable online database. It includes the complete electronic editions of more than 2,000 U.S. newspapers—with 75% of these sources not available in any other library database.
Customizable, map-based interface
America’s News features an intuitive interface that lets students and faculty use a U.S. map to quickly select and search one or more local newspapers, a group of titles across a state or region, specific papers nationwide or the entire collection. This interface can be customized to reflect the library’s needs, ensuring that students and faculty can easily access specific newspapers in the library’s collection. Also, users are provided with multiple search options that sort and group results by date, location, source type and more. Combined with NewsBank’s powerful search engine and unmatched content, these robust tools enable researchers at every level to find the information and answers they require. Additionally, the interface is available in four languages - English, Portuguese, Spanish and Welsh. MARC records and Open URLs are also available.
